There are wilderness times in most Christians lives.  These are the periods when you identify with Israelites during their 40 years wandering in the desert.  Everything feels dry and hopeless.  God seems like He is far away and the only option is despair.

What do you do when this happens?

More importantly, how do you snap out of it? 

 

God's grace is bigger than your mistakes.  His plan will be carried out in your life even after your mess up big time.  You just have to keep on pressing on towards Jesus.

The Christian life is an ongoing mental battle.  There is the hope and trust in Jesus on the one hand.  This faith that is meant to be settled and undivided in the Lord is attacked on a daily basis by the things of this world.  Doubts, our own expectations, pain, and loss can turn our beautiful work of the Lord into ashes.  It is so easy to get discouraged by our own judgment of the work we are doing for the Lord.

 

The story of Jeremiah Lanphier and the Fulton Street Prayer Meeting provides me with my antidote to this discouragement. 

What does it mean to be a Christian man in the modern world?  How do men find their way in a society that is not supportive of the Biblical worldview?

The Triumphal Entry is a huge moment in human history. It is also a point of gigantic failure for man. Jesus came as Messiah and Lord. Man praises Him but only for our own purposes. We then reject Him. We want our will be done, not God’s. How can we celebrate this day with joy?

The Bible calls the church to preach and teach the Word of God. These may seem like synonyms but they are two distinct practices. The lack of teaching can lead to empty and burdensome Christianity.
